Our Successes

After Soil Relocation in Dublin, CA

Dublin, CA

Camp Parks NH 19-24 Export

Situation: Our client was faced with how to safely handle 15,000 cubic yards of soil, destined for double handling and a longer schedule.

Solution: Through proper environmental and geotechnical testing to ensure regulatory compliance, EMG connected the Camp Parks project with a nearby import site. Both the Camp Parks project and import site benefitted from the connection; the schedule reduction, cost savings, environmental assessment and due diligence on the part of EMG paved the way to an otherwise missed opportunity.

West Sacramento, CA

Confidential Public School Project

Situation: Our confidential client was faced with an urgent dilemma when they discovered their site contained both Class II nonhazardous and Class I California hazardous waste, neither of which had proper profiling or a future home in sight. They needed a cost-effective solution to safely remediate nearly 2,000 cubic yards of material while keeping the community safe.

Solution: EMG provided insight into the testing data, guidance with proper sampling and soil delineation, and assistance with hazardous and non-hazardous profiling, pricing and transportation to the proper site. With EMG’s assistance, the client got their schedule back on track, and ease of mind that their contaminated material found the right home.

Chase Center before Excavation and RemediationChase Center Excavation and Remediation

San Francisco, CA

Chase Center Excavation and Remediation

Situation: One of our most notable soil removal and remediation achievements, the Chase Center project faced some of the greatest contamination levels within the Bay Area, at a site immediately adjacent to the San Francisco Bay waters rife with state and federal hazardous wastes strung across multiple depths from the 1906 earthquake.

Solution: This high-profile project included GPS horizontal and vertical delineation of contaminated materials, proper excavation and off-haul of said material, all while dewatering the entire site due to the proximity of San Francisco Bay waters. Additionally, EMG team members helped coordinate 300 trucks per shift and multiple excavation crews to bring this job across the finish line. Members of EMG are proud to have estimated and helped construct the new home of the Golden State Warriors.

Yosemite Slough Before RestorationYosemite Slough Restoration Project

San Francisco, CA

Yosemite Slough Restoration Project

Situation: Years of industrial use left Yosemite Slough full of construction debris, contaminated soil and worn out warehouses, preventing beneficial use by the public and by nature alike.

Solution: EMG team members successfully delineated nickel and lead contaminated materials through a grid-style pattern. Upon removal or isolation of the contaminants, various onsite materials were either recycled for beneficial re-use, or disposed of in an environmentally conscious way. A geo-synthetic clay liner created an on-site impermeable cap that prevented further contaminants from leaching into the groundwater, saving the owner time and money. Finally, the tidal barrier was breached after a flawlessly executed 3-day, 2-night operation that brought bay waters back into a restored and rehabilitated wetland for client, California State Parks.
