The Camp Parks project was faced with 15,000 cubic yards of extra soil, set on exporting the material to a site nearly 40 miles away. However, EMG aided the Camp Parks project and was able to connect with an import site less than 5 miles down the road, saving the project time and tens of thousands of dollars in the process. Both the Camp Parks project and import site benefitted from the connection; the cost savings, environmental assessment and due diligence on the part of EMG paved the way to an otherwise missed opportunity.
With their hands on both non-hazardous soil and State hazardous waste, neither of which had proper profiling or a future home in sight, our client needed a cost-effective solution that handled nearly 2,000 cubic yards of material. EMG provided insight into the testing data, guide the onsite environmental professional towards the proper sampling and soil delineation, and assist the site contractor with hazardous and non-hazardous profiling, pricing and transportation to the proper site. The client was left with a schedule back on track, and ease of mind that their contaminated material found the right home.
One of our most notable achievements, the Chase Center project faced some of the greatest contamination levels within the Bay Area. Largely sourced from dumped materials and debris after the 1906 earthquake, the excavation involved hazardous waste disposal to locations as far away as Utah.
Hazardous material aside, the excavation included the coordination of over 300 trucks per shift, which sourced from different truckers and finished with multiple destinations based on the level of contamination. All this while maintaining a dewatering system necessary to hold back the San Francisco Bay water. Members of EMG are proud to have estimated and helped construct the new home of the Golden State Warriors.
